I Could Use One
An MIT engineer has created a pretty cool alarm clock dubbed "Clocky" which was featured on Slashdot. If you hit the snooze button, it rolls around to a random location so that you have to get up and figure out where it went before you can hit the snooze button again. Imagine having several of those going off at the same time.Today I saw a pro abortion (pro choice) rally at day 2 of an anti abortion (pro life) protest. A bunch of women were chanting, "Our body, our choice. It's time to raise our voice." We could hear them from our CS TA session in the CBA (business building for you non-UT kids) and had a nice view from the window. Personally I'm pro choice as I think people should not have to give birth to a child if they are not ready for one or cannot support one. Though I've got to admit, those pictures of aborted fetuses didn't look very pretty.
Today was my first break from school work, but looks like midterms are right around the corner again. Managed to get some Gunbound in, and KTRoX is doing well as usual. Behold KTRoX's resident boomer pro in action!

Beautiful Day
It's 72 degrees and sunny outside. It doesn't get much better than this.
However, I was told on Monday that someone on the third floor killed himself from someone who lives two doors away from the scene. We've got a mandatory floor meeting tonight, and I'm pretty sure it's about the suicide. It's pretty sad. Supposedly everyone on that floor knows each other really well, except for the people who lived in that room.
But Spring Break was pretty good. We went to Astroworld and I overcame most of my fears about rollercoasters. I went on rides that go upside down for the first time, and it wasn't nearly as scary as I thought it'd be. Somehow we rode Greezed Lightning three times in a row. Hooray for velocities greater than sqrt(r*g)!
Plus funnel cakes are sooooo grood and I had this giant turkey leg that was delicious. Just stay away from the totally rigged skill games.
I watched Stephen Chow's Kung Fu Hustle, which is by far one of the best movies I've seen, replacing whatever my previous favorite movie used to be. I like to think of it as an Asianized Matrix. Stephen Chow totally rocks my socks. He's the same guy who brought you Shaolin Soccer, as well as King of Comedy, but most of you probably haven't seen the latter. Ong Bak had some pretty good action in it too and would have been better if it weren't for the really annoying high-pitched side kick girl.
I got around to updating Fetch Text URL and MassRename one more time as well as making a page for my programs creatively titled "Jeff's Programs." Original, eh?
I recently read an article on what CS guys should be doing in college, and I'm sort of remotivated about programming. I'll need the motivation to try and prepare for the ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest which is in about two weeks. I'll be missing about a week of school, which is really going to suck. I've gotta catch up in my classes just so I can fall behind again. So much work, so little time.

Props for liking Kung Fu Hustle, that was an awesome movie.
But about the week of missed school, it's not any different than normal, right?
haha, later man, Tommy

Fetch Text URL 1.1
I've gotten around to updating my Fetch Text URL Firefox / Mozilla extension to version 1.1, which now includes fancy snazzy preferences for customization. If you already have yours, simply installing over it will update it.
Today some person tried to convince a couple of friends and me to boycott the local Taco Bell, claiming that their tomato supplier underpays its workers. When the protestor tried to hand one of us a flyer, the conversation went something like...
Protestor: "Ban Taco Bell."
Kevin: "Don't take that flyer. It's stupid. We already know the issue. There's nothing wrong with Taco Bell."
Protestor: "So you're for slavery?"
Kevin: "The owner of Taco Bell already said they don't even use that company to get their tomatoes, so your argument is null and void."
Protestor just walks away.

Connect or Ignite?
So as I left the RLM this morning, this guy hands me a flyer and tells me to vote for the student government today. I wasn't even aware that there was any such election going on, though I guess I did see some kids standing around campus saying Vote Connect or Vote Ignite. So I try to check out their respective websites to see their platforms, but they sure are awfully vague on most positions. All I know is that the Connect party wants textbooks to be tax free, the Ignite party wants to create vending machines that sell school supplies, and they both want to create some sort of guide to off-campus housing. In the end, I have no clue who to vote for. Maybe I'll just vote for the candidates who look cool.
So I go to the voting website to see if they have anything more specific about each candidate's positions, but it only seems to have a ballot. I guess I have until 5 pm to figure out who to vote for. It's always good to know that I have a say in who is elected as one of the "Natural Scineces" representatives.

Screenshot taken from the ballot.
Got a B- on my math exam, which isn't that great considering that the lowest grade possible is a C. Now I await my logic grade.
Anyway, Terry and I created a Gunbound guild called KTRoX. Gotta represent. Everyone needs to hurry up and obtain the rank of metal axe so you can join.
