Those of you looking for information about this class for Fall 2011, it will be nearly identical to the class as offered last year. See EE382V Data Engineering - Fall 2010 .

Not appearing on last year's syllabus will be new material concerning Cloud Databases, Ontologies, the Semantic Web and the NOSQL movement. As this is an introductory class, these topics will be introduced by relating individual apsects of these new systems to the traditional material. (i.e. Sadly, time does not permit an explicit series of lectures).

Consistent with the goal of introducting cutting edge material, the use of Rational Rose for Data Modeling will be replaced by MagicdrawUML and Protege.
