    Rock Climbing

I am a rock climber. I've been climbing since 1991. I consider myself a good 5.9 climber. 5.10s are challenging but I can often do them. 5.11s are beyond my ambitions. I climb locally at the Greenbelt, Reimers, and E-Rock and try to get out at least once a week. I have climbed in West Texas, Arizona, and Colorado, on both sport and mountaineering routes.

For some good rock climbing photos (but none of me) check out Rock Climbing Photos from rockclimbing.com

    Scotland

I got my PhD from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. (For a picture of the City of Edinburgh [138 Kbytes], click here.) I really like Scotland, especially the coast, mountains, and castles. My machine here at UT is named after Tantallon Castle [56 Kbytes], on the North Sea Coast east of Edinburgh.
