Michael Walfish is an assistant professor in the Computer Science Department at The University of Texas at Austin. His research interests are in systems, security, and networking. He has worked on untrusted computation, untrusted storage, failure detection in distributed systems, naming, network architecture, verifiable auctions, and denial-of-service defense. His honors include an Air Force Young Investigator Award (2010), an NSF CAREER Award (2011), a Sloan Research Fellowship (2012), a Teaching Excellence Award from the UT College of Natural Sciences (2012), the Intel Early Career Faculty Honor Program (2012), and the UT Society for Teaching Excellence (2012). He received his B.A. from Harvard and his Ph.D. from MIT, both in Computer Science.
