14er Accomplishments
"Doubly happy, however, is the man to whom lofty mountain tops are within reach." -- John Muir
Fourteeners (14ers) refer to mountain peaks taller than 14,000 feet. The United States has over sixty 14ers, most of them concentrated in the several mountain ranges of Colarado. Not nearly as lofty as the Himalayas or the Andes, Colorado 14ers still offer a mountaineer a complete set of challenges - difficult access to trailheads, altitude sickness, dramatic weather changes, gusty winds, avalanches, and lightning strikes.
