Where To Get Help

The purpose of this page is to list the help resources that are available in CS312

CS312 is a large class and you, the students, are responsible for a lot, including knowing you need help and seeking out that help.

Here are the resources that are available to you.

• The class web page: The web page contains the syllabus, schedule with slides, and assignments.
• Post a question on the class discussion group: If you have a question your classmates can often help you out. The instructor and TA monitor the class discussion group as well and if you have a question, chances are other people do to.
• Email the instructor: (or the TAs). Feel free to email me questions as well. See the syllabus for the TAs emails.
• Lab Hours: The instructor, teaching assistants, and undergraduate proctor all hold lab hours in the microcomputer lab in PAI 5.38 / Gates Hall 3rd floor. Come see us for help.
•  Residential Hall Study Groups: There are tutors in the Jester and Kinsolving dorms to help with the class material Sunday - Thursday nights: 7:30 - 10:30 PM. These tutors will not help you do your assignments. Rather they are there to help with the short answer exercise suggested in the book, the Practice It and Javabat problems from the schedule, and to help study for tests. This semesters tutors are:
• Tutoring: Students can also get help from the UT Learning Center. They offer appointment tutoring for CS312. Don't wait for the last minute to try and get help from these tutors. The UT Learning Center does not offer drop in tutoring for CS312, so you need to be proactive and sign up for a tutor if you even think you may need help.
• Helping yourself. To know whether you need help or not you must do the readings, try to do the suggested exercises from the book (listed on the class schedule) and attempt the Practice It and listed on the class schedule.
