About Me

I am currently pursuing my M.S. in Computer Science at the University of Texas at Austin. Prior to this, I have worked in the Research Labs at Samsung R&D Institute India at Bangalore. Advised by Dr. Lokendra Shastri, my project involved building a context aware Personal Assistant.
I completed my B.Tech. (Hons) in Computer Science from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur in May 2015. I worked with Prof. Niloy Ganguly for my undergraduate thesis.

Research

For my Bachelor's Thesis, I focused on the problem of summarization of an online tweet stream during disaster events. In our submission to CIKM 2015, we concentrated on using an integer linear programming algorithm for selection of representative tweets to form a summary.

Work Experience

Senior Software Engineer, Samsung R&D Bangalore

I worked on a project which aimed at generating calendar appointments from conversations between users. I built the Context Engine which employed various Graph Algorithms to relate various activities spoken of in the conversations through activity and causal models.

Text Summarization

During my two month intership at Samsung Research, I developed an extractive summarization tool for large documents using WordNet and graph algorithms.

Automated Mosaicking of Torn Paper Documents

For the Interhall Opensoft Competition 2014 at IIT Kharagpur, a dynamic programming approach was used to stitch together torn fragments of paper to recreate the original document.

Research Citation Analyzer

For the Interhall Opensoft Competition 2013 at IIT Kharagpur, built a desktop client for analyzing publications and their citations by connecting to Google Scholar and Microsoft Academic Search.

Miscellaneous

Interhall Opensoft Competition, IIT Kharagpur

Opensoft is a Software Development Competition annually held at IIT Kharagpur wherein all the Halls of Residences in the Institute compete against each other. I served as the Captain of the team of my Hall of Residence during 2013-15 and led us to a medal winning performance during my tenure.

National Service Scheme, IIT Kharagpur

National Service Scheme (NSS) is an organization constituted of student volunteers at IIT Kharagpur which serve towards the upliftment of the living conditions of various villages neighboring the Institute. As an active contributor, I took up the responsibility of conducting weekend Mathematics classes in the local village school during my time at the University.
