DAVID M. YOUNG

Harvard University \\ Director, Center for Numerical Analysis Dr. Young has served on the mathematics faculty since 1958 and on the computer sciences faculty since the department was established in 1968. His teaching and research interests include numerical analysis, numerical methods for solving partial differential equations, and numerical linear algebraŃ specifically, iterative solution of large sparse linear systems. His recent work has been directed toward iterative algorithms which are suitable for use on vector and parallel computers. He has written two books on iterative methods, one in collaboration with L.A. Hageman, and has coauthored a two-volume numerical analysis textbook with Robert T. Gregory.
