Unit 2.2.1 Instructions for BLIS Retreat Speakers

Folks,

I just updated the workshop webpage to be a little more easy to navigate. It is still at the same address:

http://www.cs.utexas.edu/users/flame/BLISRetreat2020/

Hopefully you are working on your 3-minute video. Please review the format for the program for this virtual workshop at

http://www.cs.utexas.edu/users/flame/BLISRetreat2020/Format.html

The “two weeks in advance” is not a hard deadline, but time is starting to get short.

I redid the webpage with my new favorite authoring tool, PreTeXt. It is not meant for this kind of purpose, but I managed to get it to look pretty good for our purposes.

In translating things from the old webpage to this new format, some of your info may have fallen between the cracks. Please go to the “Program” section and find the webpage associated with your talk. Then check if everything is OK. The order of talks is yet to be determined. You can actually post anything you want on that webpage if you send me the information you want posted. For example, you may want to add a link to your personal page and/or research group. At the end of this message is what the XML looks like for our page at http://www.cs.utexas.edu/users/flame/BLISRetreat2020/Maggie-Robert.html. It would be helpful if you sent me something in that format. I can make minor adjustments in the formatting, so don’t worry about it if you don’t quite get the syntax. There is a section “Logistics” where you find instructions on how to upload videos. In the end, communicate to me where to find the video. Feel free to contact me for further help at rvdg@cs.utexas.edu.

Remember that this is a very informal workshop. How this all turns out is part of a grand experiment in this strange time in which we live.

Robert, for the organizing committtee
