Grid-to-grid interactions

• Prolongation
  • Refined grids have boundaries which are interior to some coarser grid.
  • The boundary values are obtained by linear interpolation from the coarser grid values.
• Restriction
  • A fine grid and its underlying coarse grid are updated to the same time level.
  • The coarse grid point values are updated by injecting the fine grid solution onto the coarse grid points.
