Soft Real-Time Applications with Constant Bit Rates (CBR)

As can be noticed from Figure 2, the encryption throughput for all devices concerned were significantly higher than the audio data rates considered ( $C = 14-18 \ kbps$). Even for the PCM audio, where the data rates are 64 kbps, except for the Motorola 6805 smartcard processor, all other devices can comfortably encrypt all data. Hence, we see that if the bars representing the devices in Figure 2 are significantly higher than the horizontal lines corresponding to the data rate of a particular application, then encryption of all communication can comfortably be accommodated.
