This is the breadth graduate course on computer networks, with a special 
emphasis on the Internet. The list of topics I am hoping to cover in this 
course is as follows.

The textbook for this course is "Elements of Network Protocol Design" by 
Mohamed G. Gouda, published by John Wiley and Sons Inc. in 1998. We will 
cover Chapters 1 through 4 and Chapters 13 through 25 in this textbook.

I hate giving long answers by email. So, do not email me questions of the
form "Explain to me ...". I prefer to answer such questions in person or on
the phone. If you have any such questions, you can ask me during or after the 
lectures or you can come to my office on Tuesday or Thursday 2-3 PM. You can 
also stop by my office any time but be prepared to find me busy and so 
unable to answer your questions. You can call me at home any time before 9 pm.

The grade for this course will be given based on class participation (10 points),
three homeworks (10 points each), and three midterms (20 points each). 
The homeworks will be according to the following schedule:
   Homework #1 will be given out on February 24 and collected on March 3
   Homework #2 will be given out on March 31 and collected on April 7
   Homework #3 will be given out on April 28 and collected on May 5

The three midterms will be conducted on the following dates:
   March 3  	6 - 9 pm at Painter Hall 3.14, and
   April 7  	6 - 9 pm at Painter Hall 3.14, and
   May   5	6 - 9 pm at Painter Hall 3.14
