Guidelines for Project Proposal Presentations --------------------------------------------- Your project proposal presentation should be approximately 10-12 minutes long (followed by 5 minutes for questions) and should follow roughly the same outline as your written proposal. Here is some advice on how to make a good presentations: - Make sure you include a few slides motivating the problem. Why do we want the robot to do / learn what you proposal? What would that help with? - If possible and applicable, link your topic to research in psychology / cognitive science / etc. For example, if you're working on a robot exploring objects in a developmental manner, you could include a slide or two about how humans or infants explore objects - Make sure to include a few slides on related work. How do robots currently do or learn tasks related to what you propose? You could do this by clipping figures from papers in your related work section and describing with a few words how the paper approached the problem and what their results were - About half of your presentation should focus on the problem formulation and your technical approach to solve it. It's ok if you do not know exactly what that technical approach will be but at the least, you should provide a high-level overview of how you plan to address the problem - Throughout your presentation make good use of images and videos and avoid walls of text If you have any questions, feel free to email me!
