Pika

Pika (Cony), about 10 cm (4") long, seen above timberline near the Flattop trail. Pikas are active all year. During summer, they cut grass and make small hay piles to sustain them through the winter. Running into crevices between rocks is usually an effective way to escape from predators. The pika makes a high-pitched, metallic little bark to warn of intruders.
