Syed Akbar Mehdi

I am on the job market this year! I am looking for industry positions dealing with data-intensive systems
including large scale distributed systems (both online and analytics), databases, storage and systems for ML.
Here is my resume.

I am a PhD candidate in the Department of Computer Science at The University of Texas at Austin.
My advisors are Prof Lorenzo Alvisi and Prof Simon Peter.
My research interests are in Distributed Systems and Databases focusing on aspects such as
Consistency, Replication, Transactions, Scalability, Performance and Fault Tolerance.

During my PhD I have interned at Facebook (Summers 2013, 2014 and 2015) and VMware (Summer 2017).

Previously, I have earned an MS in Computer Science from Stanford University and a
BE in Software Engineering from the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Pakistan.
