Title of Talk: Learning and Adaptation
in Visual Cortex
Reception with Refreshments at 11:30 AM
Abst
ract: Early work in cognitive neuroscience focused on localizing cognitive
and perceptual functions to specific regions in the human brain. More recen
t work looks within such regions to study how neurons represent informatio
n and contribute to behavior. This talk will illustrate the latter approach
using two lines of research. The first examines whether learning can modif
y neural representations at early levels of the visual system. The second i
nvestigates whether color and form are represented jointly in the visual sy
stem.
