RoboCup Player Skills
This is a list of skills needed for a good RoboCup player and team.
Basic Skills
The transition from one skill to another should be smooth,
i.e. passing or shooting from a dribble should be a smooth operation.
- dribble
- pass
- shoot
- make leading pass to a running teammate
- intercept a pass from the opposite side
- receive a passed ball
- receive a passed ball while running
- approach a stationary ball and control it.
- feint - fake one direction before going another
Advanced Skills
- coordinate strategy with teammates
- anticipate future locations of teammates
- anticipate opponent passes, so they can be intercepted.
- marking (defending an opponent who does not have the ball)
- position-dependent parameters: goalie, fullback, halfback, forward
Team Skills
- kick-off strategies
- penalty kick (offense)
- penalty kick (defense)
- sideline throw-in (they play it as a kick)
- corner kick
