Section 4 How will I learn?
Before each lecture.
You will have to watch a few videos before coming to class using Panopto. The total time of each of these assignments are typically < 20-25 mins. During the pre-lecture assignment, you will be required to answer the question associated with the video. These pre-lecture videos will constitute a part of your participation grade.
During each lecture.
We will start each lecture with an icebreaker that will allow you to get to know your classmates and your teaching team. I will lecture a bit to go over the big ideas of the day, we will then work on problems.
You are expected to follow along and actively participate. Although recordings of the class will be made available to you, you should not primarily rely on these recordings to learn. Recordings are being made available to you to refer back to things you may have missed, or need to relisten to, or in the case of emergency, catch up with the material when you may have missed class.
Discussion Sessions.
The discussion sessions are scheduled for Friday. Your TAs will guide these sessions and work on problems with you.
Homework.
Each week there will be a homework due on Friday after the discussion sessions. You can collaborate with others on the homework. You will be given a solution for the homework, and are expected to self-evaluate your work. If you do so, please write the names of the students you collaborated with on your submission. You are not allowed to screenshot the homework solutions in to a document and claim this work as your own. These homeworks will be based on the topics we have gone over during the week and will be graded for completion.
Quizzes.
There will be a quiz every Friday that is open for 24 hours starting 9 a.m. Friday. The quiz will be untimed. You can take this quiz at your convenience during the 24 hours that it is open. The quiz will have both multiple choice and free-response type questions. The quiz will have multiple attempts, and is open-book open-notes, but closed internet. You cannot post the questions of the quiz on any forum, or cannot search for answers of the questions online. You are not allowed to collaborate or communicate with others on the quizzes. Any indication of collaboration will be reported as academic dishonesty.
