Greg Lavender

Greg Lavender has more than 40 years of experience in software and hardware product engineering, cloud-scale systems architecture engineering, advanced research and development, and cybersecurity. He was the CTO at Intel from June 2021 to June 2025, where he led the Software & Advanced Technology group, Intel Labs, Intel Tiber AI Cloud, Intel IT and Information Security. Prior to Intel he held senior leadership positions at VMware, Citigroup, Cisco Systems and Sun Microsystems. He holds a Ph.D., in computer networking and distributed computing. Before his career in tech began, he was on the Computer Science faculty at the University of Texas at Austin for 14 years, including three years as Associate Chairman for Academics. In 2024 he was named one of the “Top 10 most influential CTOs” by Technology Magazine.
