Join a Student Organization

Our graduate student organizations create space for peer connection, growth and belonging — built by CS students, for CS students.

Graduate Representative Association of Computer Sciences (GRACS)

Connects UTCS grad students through advocacy, resources and events.

Graduate Women and Gender Minorities in Computing (GWGMC)

Supports UTCS researchers through mentorship, events and community.

The department does a great job supporting student organizations and encouraging them to plan events for grad students. GRACS, for example, organizes weekly social events that help build community, and GWGMC creates a welcoming space that connects students with faculty for both research and personal support.

Life as a UTCS Grad Student

Graduate life at UT Computer Science goes beyond research and classes. It’s where you connect with peers, collaborate on ideas and grow through shared experiences.

Research Pods

Work alongside other graduate students and faculty in shared spaces built for collaboration. Each pod brings together labs, offices and study areas so research and connection happen side by side.

Grad Lounge

Take a break, play a quick game, catch up with friends or just take a breather between projects. The grad lounge gives you room to recharge and stay connected to your community.

The graduate CS group’s community-building efforts helped me feel like there was a group of people I could rely on. Most students and professors are very open to talking and sharing their experiences, which makes it easy to reach out and have meaningful discussions.
