UTCS equipped me with the skills to do multiple internships before I graduated. This gave me exposure to different kinds of teams, challenges and cities, all of which helped me make my full-time job decision. And, I learned lessons and skills that I still use today!

The value of a degree, especially in computer science, is building a foundation for your career. Every course contains core principles applicable elsewhere in the discipline. Each class has provided lessons that implicitly appear in actual jobs. It provides a structured way to develop both technical skills and the mindset needed for long-term success.

Internships

Internships are a valuable way to apply your UTCS education in real-world settings, gain hands-on experience and build industry connections. Many students also use internships to help offset tuition costs.

Longhorn for Life

Earning a degree means a lot more than just getting a diploma. It means becoming part of a network that will stay with you for the rest of your life. Long after you’ve graduated, the time you spent here will continue to shape your life and career.

I interned as a software development intern. My CS coursework gave me a solid foundation in areas like algorithms and data structures, which were important for implementing an efficient application and managing large datasets. This internship has solidified my passion for full-stack development and reinforced how much I enjoy building tools that solve real-world problems.
