Hello dear reader!
If you're a college student reading this, you probably don't realize, or even care for that matter, that for high school seniors, the deadline for college decisions is quickly coming up. And with that, all my younger friends are calling me up for advice on all things college.
While talking to them, I came to remember the person I was when I was in their shoes last year, and realized that even though I have only been in college for a year, I've already changed so much.

I don't know much about computer science, at least, certainly not as much as the people who tell me all about their actual, paying jobs they hold building websites for clients or the myriad of hackathons they've participated in (and good on them).
But also, good on the people who have never written a line of code in their lives and have decided to pursue a major in the field. Because that's brave, and we need more of those people at our college, and in the world. We need brand new perspectives and brand new approaches to real world problems.

I moved to Texas from California when I was in the sixth grade. And when I say moved, I really mean dragged, kicking and screaming. It wasn't a fun time. For fear of death threats, I won't say I hated Texas, but I really didn't love it either. Whenever I tell people I'm from California, they without fail ask me which I like better, California or Texas. For years I, without fail, replied the former. It was the only life I had known, of course I was attached to it. I was convinced I wanted to go to college in California, too.
