Dr. George Kozmetsky, who died on April 30, 2003, held a courtesy appointment of Professor of Computer Sciences during his tenure as Dean of the College of Business Administration from September 1972 until August 1982. He held that departmental title until his death. He strongly influenced the development of the program of information processing in that college.

He founded the off-campus IC2 Institute to encourage and support entrepreneurial effort in the development of high technology industry in the Austin area. One offshoot to this program was the establishment of the University Technology Incubator, which housed many computer-related startups.

His vision and energy had a significant influence on the development of computer-related startups and will continue to invigorate the computer-related industrial and research base in the Austin area. Visit the Austin Business Journal's article for more information.
