According to PitchBook Data Inc. Texas Computer Science is a global powerhouse when it comes to the number of companies founded by its former undergraduates who have gone on to start their own companies and raise equity capital. PitchBook Data Inc. is a Seattle-based independent provider of research data on the private-equity and venture-capital industries, which has published a "Top Universities Producing VC-backed Entrepreneurs" list since 2013. 

The department ranked Number 8 of the top 50 universities globally for the number of venture-capital-backed companies that its former students have founded over the years in PitchBook's 2015-2016 Universities Report. This is a two spot jump up from last year's rankings and an increase from 150 founders and 137 companies to 293 founders and 26 companies. Pitchbook Data reports that our entrepreneurial alums have raised $2,005,000,000 in capital from the start of 2010 through the end of July 2015.

Texas Computer Sciences was also ranked number 31 for companies started by female former students.
