Fatma Tarlaci
Adjunct Assistant Professor
Dr. Fatma Tarlaci holds a Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin, where she received the Outstanding Dissertation Award for her contributions to her interdisciplinary field of study. She continued her academic studies at Stanford University following completion of her doctorate, where she focused on Natural Language Processing. Her research expertise spans artificial intelligence, machine learning, and natural language processing. Her applied research interests include vision language models, physical AI, active inference, and embodied intelligence. She remains dedicated to computer science education, AI safety, and inclusive teaching practices.
Her academic work is complemented by extensive industry experience. She completed a research residency at OpenAI and has held various technical leadership roles in data science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. She currently also serves as a Chief AI Officer, applying her research background to strategic AI initiatives in an enterprise setting.
