  • A Unique Educational Experience

The Turing Scholars Program is an honors program for outstanding computer science (CS) undergraduates. Housed in the nation’s 9th ranked CS department, the Turing Scholars program combines all of the advantages of a small, private university with the significant resources of a large research institution. It offers students small classes, close relationships with faculty, and guaranteed honors housing. The program also offers students access to a vast menu of undergraduate and graduate courses, ample opportunities for interdisciplinary studies, and career placement options with industry partners. Its rigorous curriculum and established national reputation ensure that Turing students are among the most highly-skilled and sought after graduates in the field.

  • The Need for Scholarships

With a top-ten ranking and over 2,300 students, UTCS is home to the field’s largest concentration of young talent in the field of computer science. It is also one of only three public schools in the top ten, putting it in direct competition with well-funded private universities like Stanford and MIT. This leaves the university at a disadvantage in terms of its ability to offer the scholarships that are critical to recruiting top students.

With the generous support of the Kodosky Foundation, the university has launched a campaign to dramatically increase the number of available scholarships. By equipping this unique community of scholars with the proper scholarship incentives, the university can ensure the most talented students in computer science will have every reason to call Austin home.

Kodosky Foundation Matching Program

If you choose to establish a new endowed scholarship for the benefit of students in the Turing Scholars Program, you will have the option to have your funds matched by the Kodosky Foundation, doubling the impact of your gift. Our goal is to raise $1.25M and match every dollar being made available by the Kodosky Foundation.

Qualifications and Use

Gifts can be pledged over a 5-year term. The Kodosky Foundation will match endowment gifts on a 1:1 basis.

These scholarships will be used to recruit and retain undergraduate students admitted to the Turing Scholars Program. Endowments may be used to recruit and retain top graduate students should the needs of the Turing Scholars program be met in any given year.

Gifts less than $25,000 will be allocated to the already established Computer Science Endowment for Student Support.

Understanding Endowed Scholarships

Establishing an endowed scholarship offers donors the opportunity to create a lasting legacy. The principal of an endowed scholarship is invested by the university and the interest generated is used as scholarship funds. Endowed scholarships may be established starting at $25,000. The invested principal will grow over time, maximizing the impact of your gift and ensuring that it will support computer science students for generations to come. Endowed scholarships may be named for you, your family, or someone you wish to honor.

Company Match

Many employers sponsor matching gift programs (Apple, Google, Microsoft, etc.) and will match any charitable contributions made by employees.

Tip: You will need to request the matching gift from your employer.
