11/19/2024 - Mina Huh, a computer science Ph.D. student at UT Austin, has been awarded a Google Ph.D. Fellowship, the company announced on November 14.

11/11/2024 - UT Computer Science Associate Professor Etienne Vouga has earned a 2024 Regents’ Outstanding Teaching Award for demonstrating extraordinary classroom performance and innovative teaching. Vouga is one of 12 recipients this year from across the University of Texas System.

09/30/2024 - On Thu, Sep 19, 2024, the UT Programming Team competed at the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) 2023-24 48th World Finals hosted by the Kazakhstan Competitive Programming Federation in Astana, Kazakhstan.

09/24/2024 - The 2024-2025 rankings tout undergraduate computer science at The University of Texas at Austin as among the ten best nationally.

08/30/2024 - Computer science professor Chandrajit Bajaj was recently awarded funding by the U.S. Army Futures Command’s University Technology Development Division (UTDD), in support of DEVCOM C5ISR, for game theory research to develop artificial intelligence systems. The project will utilize Dynamic Belief Games to train AI agents to be better planning and decision support tools for next-generation communications systems.

08/07/2024 - UT Computer Science is proud to announce that Professors Brent Waters and Hovav Shacham have both been honored with the prestigious Test-of-Time Award by the International Association for Cryptologic Research (IACR).

07/09/2024 - Pingali has received the Programming Languages Achievement Award by the Association for Computing Machinery’s Special Interest Group on Programming Languages (SIGPLAN).

05/20/2024 - The National Science Foundation (NSF) has announced the recipients of its prestigious Graduate Research Fellowships (NSF GRFP) for 2024, and students from the Department of Computer Science at The University of Texas at Austin's College of Natural Sciences (CNS) have been prominently recognized. This year, four Computer Science students were honored with fellowships or honorable mentions, highlighting their outstanding contributions and potential in various cutting-edge research areas.

05/20/2024 - Calvin Lin, a professor of computer science at The University of Texas at Austin, has won the Minnie Stevens Piper Teaching Award, which celebrates outstanding postsecondary teaching. Since 1958, the Minnie Stevens Piper Foundation, a non-profit, charitable corporation focused on postsecondary education in Texas, has selected excellent educators from four- and two-year institutions from across Texas to be named "Piper Professors" for their superior teaching at the college level.

05/06/2024 - This past month, UTPC competed at the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) World Finals hosted by the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport in Luxor, Egypt.The competition consisted of teams from 124 regions (approx. 372 students) trying to solve 11 problems in 5 hrs. The first-place team, Peking University, solved 10 problems. The second-place team, M.I.T., solved 9 problems.UT solved 6 problems and came in 53rd place, 9th place in North America.
