To a packed house of over 250 attendees, Craig Mundie, Chief Research and Strategy Officer at Microsoft, shared his insights on how technology is changing and how tomorrow’s technology will shape your world. As chief officer of the world's largest computer science research organization, Mr. Mundie was able to provide a unique glimpse into Microsoft’s technology focus while demonstrating some of Microsoft’s latest products and cutting edge tools.

05/21/2012 -UTCS honored new Ph.D. graduates at its annual hooding ceremony on Friday, May 18. Each new graduate received a short testimonial from his or her graduate research advisor. The new doctors were then hooded by UTCS Chair Bruce Porter. Afterwards, a reception was held for graduates, faculty, friends and family.Read more

03/24/2012 -Yahoo! Hack U is two days of learning, hacking and fun. Yahoo! Hack U came to UTCS March 22 & 23rd. Attendees at this year's hack heard interesting tech talks, received hacking tips and lessons, and took part in hands-on coding workshops where they worked with cutting-edge technology.Read more
03/05/2012 -Explore UT, a campus community engagement event held each March, invites the public to experience UT. Thousands of people explored the UTCS program, discovering the fun of computer science, engaging in artificial intelligence, software programming, gaming, graphics and visualization, and chatting with academic advisers.
02/27/2012 -The department hosted prospective Ph.D. students at GradFest 2012, a two-day exploration of UTCS research, resources, and community. Over 30 admitted students attended panel discussions, toured labs, and met with faculty one-on-one. Current graduate students hosted the out-of-towners in their own homes for a real look at life as a UTCS grad student.Read more
